Our Process
Every raised bed or retaining wall project starts with understanding the existing garden, including ground conditions, levels, drainage and access.
We then agree the proposed layout, materials and construction requirements before preparing a quotation. Our landscaping teams manage the installation from excavation and foundation preparation through to construction and finishing.

Raised Planting Beds, Sleeper Walls & Retaining Structures
Raised beds can provide defined planting areas, help organise garden layouts and accommodate changes in level. We construct beds using materials such as oak and treated softwood sleepers, brickwork, blockwork and natural stone, depending on the design and intended use.
Retaining walls serve a different purpose: they must resist the pressure of the ground behind them. Their construction requires consideration of wall height, foundations, ground conditions, loading and drainage. Where structural design is required, this needs to be established before construction.
We can incorporate raised beds and retaining walls into wider landscaping works, connecting them with patios, pathways, steps, lawns and planting areas to create a coordinated garden layout.

How Much Do Raised Beds & Retaining Walls Cost?
The cost of raised beds and retaining walls depends on their dimensions, materials, ground conditions, access and the amount of excavation and preparation required.
Timber sleeper beds, brick or blockwork planters and natural stone walls have different construction requirements. Retaining walls may also require substantial foundations, drainage, reinforcement or structural design, depending on their height and the loads they need to support.
At Verdant, we prepare quotations based on the requirements of each project. Following an initial discussion and site assessment where appropriate, we can establish the scope of work and provide a detailed quotation covering the proposed materials and construction.

The Verdant Landscapes Ltd team transformed our garden from a poorly utilised vegetable patch to raised beds with a solid base for a greenhouse. Over 4 days they put in a compacted base, built oak framed raised beds and cut in all the paving slabs to provide a path around the entire area before finally filling the beds with new topsoil. Couldn’t have been happier with the team that Tom had in place. On time everyday and worked solid days to get it completed on time. The team at Verdant replaced a stone patio from our new build developers with a stunning Porcelain tile as well as created a new secondary patio around our garden office, and levelled all the grounds finishing with a an amazing premium quality artificial grass. Finished off with a top class veranda to give us plenty of shade and shelter from the rain! It was a big job, but they delivered and completed in under 2 weeks, which was astonishing.

Sean firstly, relaxed but professional on the first call and very quick at arranging a visit to look at the work to be done.
First meeting very friendly and put me at ease straight away.
There was lots of phone calls regarding work/quotes and questions and he took it all in his stride.
Part of the reason we decide on theses guys to do the job was that they gave us the clearest idea of what the garden was going to look like once finished.
